Throughout our lives we have been guided to live our lives certain ways by others. Our parents, teachers, society, our heroes, are all possible examples of how we think we should live our lives. Your life is your life, no one else can live it, and even more, we can only live our lives the way we know how. Who says we must conform to one size fits all as the way to live our lives?
Your future is a blank slate; write upon that slate the life you would like to have. To attempt to live your life as you think someone else would want is a fruitless journey. How can we know what goes on in the heart of another? For all we know, deep inside that person upon whom we are basing our life they might be saying to themselves, “I wish I could be brave enough to live my life that way.”
To live our lives our way we must first take the time to find out who we are and why we are doing what we are doing. This is the Involved Observer process I describe in my book It’s All About Me. Want to find out who you really are and start living your life authentically? Read the book, and do the work. No one else can do it for you, just as you cannot live someone else’s life.
