Life is amazing!

When I set out for the Soap Box Derby last weekend I wrote that I would report on what I learned from the young drivers, ages 7-17.  How delightful that at the Akron Rubber Ducks minor league baseball game Tuesday night I met an 89 year old Korean War veteran named Harold.

Harold has an amazing handshake, a delightful outlook on life, as well as a great sense of humor.  Too often we marginalize those of advanced years as being past their prime.  What a mistake that is!, As I have already written, mistakes are things we correct then move on, so when someone like Harold comes into our lives, we are invited to release these out dated concepts of age.  This is a two way street.  When we are fewer in years, we think older people are of little value.  Suddenly, and believe me those years go by in a flash, we find ourselves labeled as old, and bring with us the idea seasoned people are useless.  This becomes a self fulfilling thought, and we think of ourselves as useless.  Not Harold, he knows he has more to add, even at the ripe young age of 89.  Only our beliefs create limitation, limitation about age, possibility, life.  Where are your thoughts? Yes, life IS amazing!

We create our own limitations, at every phase of life.
