Doing your best seems like such a no brainer. Of “Course I do my best, I do my best all the time!” But right here, just between you and I, is there a part of you which sometimes aims for “just good enough?”
Don Miguel Ruiz, author of the Four Agreements has an interesting take on the idea of doing our best: “Doing your best is taking the action because you love it, not because you’re expecting a reward. Most people do exactly the opposite; they only taken action when they expect a reward, and they don’t enjoy the action. And that’s the reason why they don’t do their best.”
So now I will ask again, do you always do your best, or are you reward based? Don’t worry about what you have been in the past, the past is gone. From this moment forward you can ask yourself many times per day “Am I doing this only because I have to or because I will be rewarded, or am I doing it for the love of what I am doing?”
In my book Think, Believe, Receive, three steps to an amazing life I offer you a gift I was given many years ago, the gift of Until Now. The gift of until now frees us from thought patterns and work habits which have not supported us and are ready to be let go. We don’t have to be wrong for having these thoughts or work habits, we simply recognize them as a thing we choose to leave behind.
Today is a new day, this moment is a new moment, and it is you who creates how you experience your life.
