What is the greatest poverty? Is it lack of money? Is it substandard housing? My thought is that the greatest poverty is lack of imagination.
Imagination=Poverty
If you have traveled this world, even our country, you know there are many people living at economic levels that would suggest poverty, yet they are happy. Clearly then, economics are not the key factor in happiness. Many very financially wealthy people are so attached to their money that they cannot truly enjoy their abundance. No, what it comes down to is how one imagines the world around them. If all we can imagine is amassing more money, that is a lack of imagination. If what we imagine is finding happiness in what we have, that is true wealth. Once again we are back to looking at how we think, what we believe and what we are prepared to receive as being the key to happiness.
It doesn’t matter
It doesn’t matter how much or how little money or other material possessions we have amassed, what does matter is how we look at life. If we look at our situation, no matter what it looks like to other eyes, as one of joy, love and connection to something greater, we are far more likely to find that we think of our lives as blessed, abundant and one of satisfaction. When it comes right down to it, what others think about how we live or what we have doesn’t matter a whit–if we are happy within ourselves.
Priorities
What are the priorities in your life? Money? Cars? Houses? Anything that can be taken away by external events have no true value. Living as love, sharing love, experiencing love, now those are things that truly matter.
